Ahead of a quiet end to the month with runners, we were treated to another win on Sunday from NOODLE MISSION for trainer Ed-Smyth Osbourne and jockey Ed Greatrex.
At generous odds 0f 12-1 Noodle, was always well positioned and when Ed nudged him to the front entering the famous dip at Newmarket, there was very little doubt over the result. Noodle was carrying 5lb less than he does on the all-weather due to past performances, but showed that turf holds no fears as he strode clear and held on comfortably by 2.25 lengths.
This was our first winner at Newmarket, after a few disappointments on what was becoming dangerously close to being an unlucky track. It was also Ed's first winner at HQ and we are absolutely delighted that in the 4 runs that Noodle Mission has had since joining Ed and The Gold and Green Racing Club, he has now finished 3-1-2-1 and accumulated over 20k in prize money. With more to come it promises to be a productive summer for the 4yr old gelding.
On the other side of the coin, MILITRY DECORATION ran well below form at Newbury when he a lot in his favour, so trainer Camilla Poulton will be working hard to find the key and get him back to form that saw him win, just three runs back at Southwell.
SIEMPRE ARTURO ran last Monday (13th) at Windsor and put up a decent performance to finish a close 5th. The winner was given a great ride from the front, and Richard Kingscote, riding SIEMPRE, reported that the horse was a little unbalanced when trying to quicken off the bend and his feet were all over the place while he gathered himself. It was his first turf run, and he is still a lightly raced horse who has bundles more to come.
Our next runners are all likely to come from the North and trainer Rebecca Menzies, with LOUBIERE, INDICATION ROCKET and THREE PLATOON all very close to an entry. We should also see BORODALE on the track before long but it is expected to be early June for the others that are active. Of course, that can change with the weather, so we will keep you updated.
